Picture Share Friday

50mm ISO400 f3.5 ss1/125

Happy Friday y'all! So I've finally gotten on the ball and I'm going to participate in picture share Friday. I'll tell you, I have another picture that I fell in love with from our little photo shoot this morning but I chopped off a hand so I went with this one. We're teething right now so the ice soothie was our prop :) I'm working with the Nikon D3000 and unfortunately I have to focus my 50mm on my own. So on top of learning how to shoot in manual, I'm also having to work with focusing on my own, exhausting with a nine month old!

This is SOOC, I typically prefer to warm my photo's up when I edit but I'm being brave and giving it to you the way it was shot! Would love to hear what y'all would do differently :)

Wow. I think you did awesome. She looks in focus. I have the 35mm for my D3000 because I wanted autofocus. Don't have time to focus taking pictures of kids. ha ha! So great job on that!! I love the colors.

Carsyn is starting to teeth what is that, that she has? Where did you get it?

By the way her eyes are gorgeous! :)

I am more than impressed with your focus skills. I struggle enough with autofocus.

It is a very nice SOOC shot with good lighting.

I would say crop it right below her right forearm.

Excellent job!

Sara- I'm not sure exactly what they're called but just look in the baby section of either Target or Walmart and you'll see them. It's great, I put an ice cube in it and she chews and sucks away. It's great for frozen fruit as well!

aww cute kid and really great job on focusing on a baby! the only thing I would change is maybe crop by her tray so that her legs aren't showing. but otherwise, really sweet shot!

Adorable photo, the only thing I would suggest doing is remove the chair from the background. Precious child.

Trish I totally agree, the chair has got to go :)

I think it's great. SOOC are usually my favorite way. Seems so much more natural.

Marissa, the exposure looks good and I like how you have your near a window for natural light. I agree about the removal of the chair :O) Your walls are a nice color and can be a great background for your shots. I would have maybe taken a step back so her whole body was in the picture. But I agree, with Janell and Amber that I would do a tighter crop. The other thing I noticed when I enlarged your photo it looks like the focus fell on her hand/bib instead of her eye. Check your focal point. Even though you are manual focus you should be able to move around your focal point. I'm am very impressed that you are shooting on manual focus!! I have yet to try that one :O) Her eyes look amazing and are lit very well! Great job!!

Oh, and I just double checked your settings and noticed that you could lower your aperture number to maybe f/2 or something like that and that would allow you to lower your ISO. The great thing is that since your photo is properly exposed your photo doesn't look noisey or grainy :O) Great job!

ISO had been my biggest hastle since switching to manual, I ALWAYS forget to check it! I was so bummed when I saw how high it was!!! I wish you didn't have to go into the menu screen to adjust it, maybe then I would remember. I took some outside pictures at 400 too because I forgot to check, but I guess it's a learning process...
